Sparkly Internet Cafe Spitters

Everyone HI,

We are going to see the Emperors Palace today and then fly to Shanghai. The people are wonderful and the little kids are so dressed up in sparkles. In the internet cafe the young boys spit on the floor, but other than that all is well. Miss you guys.

Hi From China!

Hi Everybody,

We are writing to you from Beijing, China, and we are having a great time. It is a massive City, and 20 times larger than Baltimore. The Chinese are working on the City to get ready for the Olympics. We have visited Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and today we will walk on the Great Wall. We were hosted by a Chinese Family in the Hutong, old section of Beijing. Several generations lived there, the home was very old and primitive by our standards. The government wants to tear the homes down and relocate the people, but they love their homes. We took lots of pictures, so we can share them with you. Tomorrow we fly to Shanghai and then a few days later a cruise on the Yangtze, and the trip ends in Hong Kong. The Chinese people stare and want their pictures taken with us. We are having a wonderful time and are greatful for this learning experience. The pollution is present, but not as bad as we thought. We have been lucky because it has been windy. There are bicycles everywere with carts on the back, trying to have there space with the cars. It is like the old clashing with the new.

It is 5 a.m. and we are in an internet cafe with young male chinese, who are playiing video games. There is a 12 hour time difference, and we are adjusting. We go to local restaurants and they have large lazy susans, and we get a real variety of chinese delicious food with lots of vegetables that are new to us. So, not much more to tell you. Hope all is well back home. Rainy is staying with Russ and family and that is wonderful as I do not have to worry about them. Chuck and Pat, have a great trip and can't wait to share pictures and stories. Pete Strawbridge we hope Carol is recovering.

Tsai Schzn or Ciao,

Dave and Nancy
